David Joyce MD, MBA is a Principal and Director of Education of MedEdStat, a healthcare education company.  In an affiliation with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Joyce led the development of a web based distance learning platform that displayed an array of Johns Hopkins Business of Medicine endorsed and certified CME courses.  He also applied the technology to patient education, healthcare technology, telehealth, telemental health, and veterinary nursing training.

Dr. Joyce earned his MD degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine.  He subsequently went on to residency training at Walter Reed Medical Center in OB/GYN as part of the U.S. Army Medical Corps.  He served at Ft. Hood, Texas, as part of the 1st Cavalry Division, delivering care to military members, their families, and retirees.  He received his board certification while on active duty from ABOG.  He earned a Meritorious Service Award from his unit for creation and implementation of a quality assurance program.  Upon Honorable Discharge from the Army he practiced as a solo practitioner followed by single specialty small group practice in a leadership capacity.

Dr. Joyce earned an MBA degree in Health Services from Johns Hopkins University and took those skills full time to give back to healthcare providers who lack the business knowledge and skills needed to perform at a high level in today’s medicine.  He understood the advantages of distance learning to deliver much needed education to physicians, acquired the skills, and used those skills in a partnership with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine to create the first CME level Business of Medicine Program in 2013.  Since then hundreds of physicians have earned thousands of AMA Cat 1 CME credits learning the business skills essential to good practice.  He and his team are dedicated to providing MBA level business knowledge to every practitioner, up to date patient education to every patient, and training to every user of technology that benefits patient’s health.
