The best you can do is have the right people at the meeting and then create an environment where they feel there contribution is valued. You do that and you will not only increase productivity, but you will enjoy the meetings and so will the team members. What a novel idea!!!

I have to tell you Paul, those two techniques, especially the latter are very powerful tools to mine ideas out of people who for many reasons may not feel comfortable speaking their mind.

I need to incorporate brainstorming and brainwriting techniques in to my meetings.

As president of our Medical staff I have learned its all about preparation. I like your point about the meeting being a functional unit and having the right people at the table.
