Sabir Taj:
The credit inequity for call is significant. Call means that your have to be around, whether you are IR or DR. That credit in my opinion should be equal between IR and DR. And IR you cant do sitting at home in your pajamas, so I would think your credit would be more, since you have to go in. Having everyone in a group take call…[Read more]

Omar: Is your phone system a VOIP or legacy system? Our newer VOIP system was dropping calls, needed some software updates. But it may have the capacity to provide some analytics, depending on the platform that it is using. That said, documenting what time/extension/phone line a problem occurs seemed to be helpful to the phone/IT team working on that.

First thanks for moving the question, David. One part of the rub that constrains this type of advertisement and process in hiring and retaining a physician is also the market dynamics. Some evidence suggest for every family physician looking for a practice, there are 100 opportunities in the country. I think typically an organization is so co…[Read more]

Katelin: I am working with one friend regarding this amount of office work. WE were talking about this driving back from a conference last week. We use the same EMR and have a lot of the same workflows. I have others physicians who I’ve discussed this with as well. One part of our EMR – Allscripts PRO EHR – is a work log, which you can see…[Read more]

So being new at this process, I was thinking, with a group that is trying to solve a problem, could a perhaps better way to perform an initial potential cause assessment be to perform the initial brainwriting prior to a group meeting, perhaps by sending out appropriate team members a survey monkey, compiling answers prior to ranking meeting, se…[Read more]

1. In family medicine, despite returning many phone calls and having 40% of our scheduled time slots be same day visits, still struggling to meet patients expectations for convenience, amid the competition with emergent/urgent/convenience/retail care
2. The cumbersome nature and functional black box of insurance formularies and the prior a…[Read more]

It seems like their A/R is large and that needs to be whittled down consistently. I’m not sure of what the benchmark would be, but our practice A/R hovers about 125% of our monthly revenue – not 400%. Bringing in an extra diligent biller could be helpful for the above scenario. Are they appropriately vigilant in followup. Or perhaps some tru…[Read more]

So I’m flying back on SouthWest airlines, which I love. And not sure of all the reasons that generate this infatuation of mine over other airlines. But one thing they do, and perhaps other airlines do also, is encourage you to clean up the trash. Now this used to be solely the job of someone other than passengers, similar to when I go to a maj…[Read more]

Team based care in our 4 provider single specialty family medicine one site group has led me from mostly authoritarian leadership to more team based. I am the owner. Having bought our office out from my former larger family medicine group after their bankruptcy, we focused mostly on efficiency and financial aspects the first year. (You learn a…[Read more]
